Appointment of new Headmistress

It is with great pleasure that St Catherine’s School Sydney announces the 14th Headmistress of the School, Ms Deb Magill.

In the last eight years as Principal of Roseville College, Ms Magill’s contributions have included academic improvement, extension of the cocurricular program, strengthening of pastoral support for students and a transformative capital works project. This has been achieved within the culture of a strong community and an environment to nurture and grow students and staff. Her leadership style is one of joy, purpose and calling. Raised on the land in country NSW, Ms Magill has spent half her career in the field of girls’ education. She has a strong track record spanning nearly 30 years, having previously worked in London, Sydney (including The Scots College) and regional NSW.

Ms Magill’s appointment will build on the exceptional contributions afforded to St Catherine’s by previous leaders and ensuring that we continue to meet challenges and seize opportunities so that our students flourish in an ever-changing world. We feel fortunate to have secured an exceptional educator and leader of Ms Magill’s calibre and look forward to her leadership in the years to come.

Ms Magill will commence her tenure with St Catherine’s in January 2025, taking over from Mrs Judith Poole who has served with distinction in the role of Interim Headmistress during 2023 and 2024. Mrs Poole will remain with us until the end of 2024 as planned and will assist with a transition program to ensure continuity and stability.
