With over 22 sports to choose from and the opportunity to compete with many other schools, sport plays a vital role in a St Catherine's education.
Competitive sport encourages self-discipline and teaches the fundamentals of teamwork and fair play. Even if your daughter has not played much sport before, there will be something to get her jumping at St Catherine's. Our head coaches are highly qualified and run programs preparing our girls for competition at all levels.
Our sports results are outstanding. We are proud to be the highest ranked independent school in our area of Sydney. We also hold a high ranking in the Independent Girls Schools Sports Association (IGSSA) competition. Running since 1922, this competition is a pathway to selection for state and national teams.
The A-Z for your PB
So much to choose from! AFL, athletics, basketball, badminton, cricket, cross country, diving, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rowing, snowsports, soccer, softball, surfing, swimming, tennis, triathlon, touch football, volleyball, water polo. Phew!
St Catherine's is very proud of the growth in our rowing program which started in 2012. Training from the UTS Rowing Club at Haberfield, our committed rowers and their families enjoy all the Head of the River events and the rigour of this most rewarding sport.
We have just introduced AFL to our program and we are excited our newest teams are doing so well. We can't wait for next season!
In the swim
Our new aquatic centre will provide a state-of-the-art venue to support our sports programs including learn-to-swim, squad training, diving and water polo. If your little girl is just learning to swim or she's already grown fins and is competing in squads and races, we will have the best facilities for her.
If your daughter displays a special talent in her chosen sport, St Catherine's can offer an Elite Sport Program to help her reach her goals and to balance this with daily school life.
The program is designed to support talented students by giving them vital tools like time management, sport psychology, resistance training and nutrition. Girls can join the program when they have reached a benchmark set by our head of senior school sport.
