Sporty girls

So much is going on in the sporting arena for our junior school girls.

St Catherine's is a member of the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA), joining 28 other independent schools to compete in carnivals and team sports. It could be athletics, gymnastics or swimming where your sporty one will find her niche, or perhaps she'll love the netball comp and become a star shooter?

She can try out for as many sports as she likes!

Choose me! I can play!

From Years 3 to 6, your daughter can join teams in:

  • Soccer
  • Water polo
  • Hockey
  • Basketball
  • Netball
  • Cricket
  • Tennis

Talented students who meet the criteria may try out for representative sport teams.

On the team

Girls in Years 3 to 6 can take up representative sports. They join squads and then teams are selected for:

  • Athletics
  • Swimming
  • Diving
  • Cross country
  • Gymnastics
  • Snowsports

Once team selections are made, the girls are offered an appropriate training program to prepare for the IPSHA carnivals.

In the pool

We're very excited about the two new pools being built at St Catherine's as part of our Research, Performing Arts and Aquatic Centre (RPAC). The aquatic centre will provide a state-of-the-art platform to support our sports programs including learn-to-swim, squad training, water polo and diving. So if your daughter loves swimming, she's going to feel right at home in our brand new pools.

Happy campers

As your daughter grows in independence, she'll be able to have two nights away from home at camp. It's a thrilling experience for Years 4, 5 and 6 as they have the opportunity to test their independence and challenge themselves through carefully structured activities. We choose from some of the most rewarding outdoor education programs Sydney has to offer.

For our Year 3 girls, we gently introduce time spent away from home. The girls have a cosy Friday night sleepover here in our delightful school library.
