The Boarding house
We only have 66 places in our boarding house and that's just the way we like it.
We're one big international family living here at school.
Our boarders are from Asia Pacific and regional Australia which is a real blending of country friendliness and cultural diversity.
The girls have the best of Sydney at their doorstep
- Only 20 minutes from the airport by car
- Bondi Junction bus and train interchange 10 minutes' walk
- Buses right outside the school gates
- A short stroll to our village shops, Charing Cross
- Bronte or Bondi beaches one way, Centennial Parklands the other
A home away from home
Your daughter will have a cosy space in the boarding house to call her own. Newly decorated in a fresh contemporary style, with ample desk space, storage, clever shelving and lighting, each girl has privacy for study and rest. Comfy lounge areas and small kitchens on each floor allow the girls to relax and make a snack when they feel like it. She can have quiet time when she wants it but there's always a friend nearby for a chat.
Our chef prepares nutritious meals and loves to work with the girls' ideas about what they'd like for dinner. If your daughter is vegetarian or has any intolerances, they can be catered for.
Our boarders are involved with just as many after-school activities as day girls so your daughter can pursue any interest that takes her fancy. It might the be the netball comp, jazz ballet, debating or theatre sports – just as if she were at home.
Weekends are fun with organised outings for Years 7–9 after lunch on Sundays. Older girls are always welcome but many organise their own social outings, usually shopping! And with the glamour of Bondi Junction a short walk away, why not?
St Catherine's is located in a safe area of Sydney but we do have onsite security patrols supported by a back-to-base alarm system. The girls are drilled in what to do in an emergency just as for the rest of our school community.

If they choose, our boarders can attend the school's prep centre with the day girls until 5.30pm (or 9pm for Years 11 and 12). They can study or read after dinner from about 7pm until 9pm in the boarding house and will have tutors available to help them with their homework. Years 10 and 11 can continue to study until 11pm and Year 12 create their own study schedule.
St Catherine's works closely with the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF) and our Indigenous girls are a vital part of our boarding community. Full of life, great sports and cheeky grins to match, they add immeasurably to our school community.
Always a helping hand
Many dedicated people are integral to the comfortable and caring atmosphere of our boarding house. From the school chaplain, residential supervisors and the boarding manager, life in the boarding house runs very smoothly and with your daughter's care and comfort at the very heart.
Sending your daughter away to school is a big decision. Please visit us at one of our international expos to meet some of our staff and have a chat about what we can do for your daughter.
We know how happy she'll be and the memories she'll make. We want you to feel the same way.
