Educating today's young women

Academic success is only one aspect of our approach. While some students will do well in class, others may excel in music or dance, sport or science. All have something that makes them who they are, and we celebrate that diversity.

We nurture this individuality, helping each girl build a strong sense of personal balance within a strongly supportive environment. She can test and challenge herself academically and personally to find her own version of success, knowing she has our full encouragement.

We help every girl discover the courage to lead and the heart to serve.

We are a Christian school in the Anglican tradition.

Strong values and sound principles

St Catherine’s is Australia’s oldest Anglican girls’ school.

Our school motto In Christo thesauri sapientiae et scientiae – ‘In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge’, embodies our approach to a Christian education, one in which we guide our actions as individuals and interactions as a community through the intrinsic values of integrity, courage, relationships and service.

We welcome every student regardless of their faith or background, and use the Bible’s guiding principles to help them grow in wisdom, character and knowledge as they develop into young women with open minds, a bold spirit and a strong sense of community.

From our Headmistress

A warm welcome to St Catherine’s, proudly Australia’s oldest Anglican girls’ school.

Founded in 1856, we are an Anglican girls’ school – day and boarding – offering an exceptional education for girls from Kindergarten to Year 12.

We have one of the broadest curriculum choices on offer and, as a girls’ school, provide unparalleled opportunities for girls to find their voice, thrive in the area of STEM, develop self-confidence and be challenged in leadership.

I invite you to come and visit us to experience our innovative teaching in action.
